Platte and Clay Dems Win ! !

Despite overwhelming odds, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Dept baseball teammates playing for the opposition, four injuries and my catching, CLAY & PLATTE COUNTY WON  the 1^st Annual Dems vs. Dems River Rivals Softball game.  We got a terrific trophy and the bragging rights for a year!

The opposition showed up with their own equipment, knee pads, batting gloves, and tattoos.  We had all taken our glucosamine chondroitin (and are consuming mass quantities of Advil now.).  We thought we were toast but we hit the ball and we threw the ball and we caught the ball and we won the trophy!  The other team did not even get a Band Aid!    

A very special thanks to Jackson County Central Committee Executive Director, Jessica Podhola, for assisting me when my brother was in and out of ICU.  And another BIG thank you to Julia Andrews who came equipped with a real first aid kit and numerous certifications which all came in handy. 

And thank you, thank you, thank you to the noble Northlanders who played the game:  Charles Myers, Jane Quick, Ed Quick, Mike Brazil, Mike Andrews, Michael Andrews, Aaron the Nixon Intern, Josh Reed and John McGurk (I stole him from Jackson since he was a northland Obama organizer.) 

We all agreed that we had a great time and we look forward to next year.  I do not know how much we collected for Harvesters but I’ll get that info later.
